About Us

We are a small friendly club with a maximum of 50 members, plus juniors. We impose an upper limit to ensure that it is always possible to fly without having to queue for a frequency slot. There are no time restrictions on when you can fly, but there are more popular times during the summer months when members meet at the field.

The Buzzard Flying Club was formed in 1977 and has been at its current site since 1996. This permanent model flying site is situated near Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, UK. We are predominantly a radio controlled model flying club with a good mix of electric and IC powered aircraft flown down at the field.

Beginners are welcome and can be given guidance by experienced members. We are affiliated to the B.M.F.A. and can offer the various qualifications (A and B certificates) supported by the B.M.F.A.

During the winter months we hold indoor flying at a local hall. The fun flying session alternates between fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft giving all members a chance to fly.

We do not hold formal meetings except for our AGM, but members usually meet on Tuesday evenings for a drink and a chat at the Carpenters Arms pub in Slapton near Leighton Buzzard.
